Planning has begun for the NDEA 2008 Instructional Conference Oct. 22-24 in Fargo.
Featured speaker will be newly elected NEA President Dennis Van Roekel; the Civic Auditorium will be the site for the exhibits, 2009 Teacher of the Year announcement, and the main speaker. The Radisson, which is just across the street, will be the headquarters hotel.
Van Roekel, a 25-year teaching veteran and longtime activist and advocate for children and public education, was reelected vice president of the National Education Association in July 2005. He is the only candidate running for NEA President at the annual Representative Assembly in Washington, D.C. this summer.
The high school math teacher from Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Ariz., has served in numerous key Association offices, including NEA Secretary-Treasurer, Arizona Education Association President, and Paradise Valley Education Association President.

Attention Health Occupation Related Teachers
The NEA provided Educators Employment Liability (EEL) Program excludes from coverage the rendering, teaching or supervising of medical services. There are exceptions to the exclusion whereby the regular EEL plan does provide coverage for first-aid and regular nursing services rendered by a school nurse and physical, occupational, or psychological therapy or treatment rendered by an appropriately licensed or certified practitioner. In addition certain activities related to the administration of oral prescriptions, emergency first-aid services and health care services provided under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act are covered by the basic EEL Program.
Fall Conference Also Features Author David Pelzer and 2009 National Teacher of the Year Michael Geisen (Click Here for Program Draft)
David Pelzer, author of "A Boy Called It" will speak at the Civic Auditorium on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. He is a living testament of a self-made man, who as an optimist strongly exudes resilience, service to mankind, personal responsibility and faith in humanity. Pelzer's unique and intriguing outlook on life, coupled with his "Robin Williams" like wit and sense of humor entertain and encourage all of us to truly commit to overcome any challenge, while living life to its fullest. For over two decades, Pelzer has dedicated his life to helping others...to help themselves. While many make excuses and seem pessimistic, Pelzer carries the banner in a nation where opportunities are endless in what he calls "The Greatness of America." And through his work, you will too.
