NDEA Ambassadors
The current NDEA Ambassador structure was established in the 2005-06 Association year. NDEA Ambassadors meet twice a year to be trained as advocates on public education issues, as well as to offer opinions on emerging issues to help the NDEA Executive Board and the Board of Directors in decision making. As needs arise, ad hoc committees comprised of interested NDEA Ambassadors are appointed by the President and approved by the NDEA Board.
The ad hoc committees arise out of needs generated by the Board, NDEA Ambassadors, staff, and/or regular members of the Association. The duties of the ad hoc committee members are determined by the "need." Ad hoc committees have a timeline in place with measurable goals.
Four commissions are in place: Ethnic Minority Affairs, Government Relations, Ready Child, and Resolutions.
Three ad-hoc committees have been formed for the 2009-2010 membership year: 1. Alternative Compensation; 2. Race to the Top, No Child Left Behind and Teach for America; 3. TFFR, PERS and Pension Reform.
